SABC NEWS ACTIVATES MATRIC RESULTS SMS REGISTRATION SERVICE
Come January 7, 2010, the class of 2009 will be able to access their exam results on SABC News’ News Break service. As in previous years, this very popular SABC information line will be the only one to provide detailed results in both SMS and voice versions, via News Break 082-152, option 6.
This year Standard Bank is a partner in the information line, and all students who register to receive their results via sms will be entered automatically into the lucky draw to win a study bursary sponsored by Standard Bank.
From now on, students can:
-
Simply SMS your ID number to 35935 and receive detailed results on the day of release via SMS, after submitting your exam number in the reply sms;
-
Or, on release day, January 7, 2010 call 082 152 early on results day, select option 6 and listen to your results, after having punched in your relevant numbers.
Students must have both their ID and exam numbers at hand to register beforehand or to retrieve their results on the day they are released.
“We invite students to start registering from the first of October to receive their results as soon as they are released by the Department of Education”, says New Media Editor, Judy Sandison, from SABC News.
Saving students time and money
This service saves students time and money, especially if they are going to be away from home on results day.
“If you have a mobile phone signal you will be able to access results, even in the United States (by dialing +27 82 152) or the United Kingdom by dialing +27 82 234 2900”, explains Sandison.
SMSes cost R3.00 each and calls are charged at standard VAS (value-added service) rates.
The service is not limited to mobile phones. Students can also use a landline to listen to their results. Simply dial 082 152, select option 6 and use the hash (#) key to select further options.
The SABC news website, www.sabcnews.com, will carry in-depth analysis and reports on results from all the provinces as well as interviews with the top candidates.
The SABC provides the exam results service in association with Vodacom, Marketel, the Department of Education and the State Information Technology Agency. Vodacom provides the network infrastructure and additional marketing support. Marketel, an official information service provider to Vodacom, developed the interactive system and provides ongoing technical support.
